Location

Kells is located on the junction of the National route N3, that runs from Dublin through to Cavan, and the National route N52, which extends from Nenagh, near Limerick, through Mullingar, to Kells. Just about an hour from Dublin airport, Birchwood offers an ideal place to stay while viewing pages of the famous Book of Kells at the local Heritage center, seeing the High Crosses, Columba’s house, the Round Tower, or visiting Newrange, Loughcrew, Tara or Trim Castle.

From the South or West, follow the signs for the N52, or Mullingar. Then follow the N52 straight through to Kells. Birchwood Bed and Breakfast is the first house after you pass the 60km. speed sign, before you enter Kells.

From Dublin airport, follow the signs for the M1 and M50 circular road around Dublin. When you enter the M50, watch for the signs for the N2 and N3. Take the exit for the N3 sign posted Cavan. Follow the N3 straight through to Kells. As you enter Kells you see the Hotel on your right, and the Church on your left. Take a left, up a short slip road, then left again. You are then on the N52 signposted Mullingar. Pass two filling stations on your left, then take a right, still on the N52 signposted Mullingar.

Our home is approx. one mile out on the left. You will see the sign for Birchwood.
